James Ashford

James focuses his practice on providing legal services to young married couples with one or more children. These services include estate planning, small business, and real estate. He is always willing to assist clients of all backgrounds accomplish their estate planning goals and take the mystery out of the planning process.

James also enjoys serving local farmers and agricultural businesses in a variety of business and estate planning areas. James practice specifically focuses on various leases, real estate transactions, and farm succession planning. James draws on his experience growing up on a farm south of Hastings to engage productively with farm clients in determining the best solutions to their legal issues.

James has a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Creighton University and a Juris Doctor from the Creighton University School of Law. While at Creighton, James assisted in rebuilding the law school's client counseling and negotiation competitions as President of the competition board. James clinical experience in law school included drafting briefs for the Nebraska Court of Appeals, representing domestic violence victims, and forming numerous microenterprise limited liability companies.

After graduating, James worked for Sullivan Shoemaker, P.C., L.L.O. for 2 years. While at Sullivan Shoemaker, James worked on cases in a variety of legal areas, including estate planning, probate, real estate, business formation, contracts, civil litigation, and personal injury. In addition, he was appointed the City Attorney for the City of Blue Hill in February 2017.

James founded Ashford Partnersin 2017.
